Divine Box is preparing to open its first high-street store in Hinckley after winning Britannia Shopping Centre's Shop Star competition.
The business, founded by Danielle Dunn in 2019, has secured a rent-free shop for 12 months alongside a support package valued at up to £35,000. Divine Box currently sells handmade bath, body and home-fragrance products online.
What the Shop Star prize includes
The support package includes business mentoring, marketing, signage, training, accountancy and legal assistance. Finalists presented their business plans and ideas for the retail unit to a judging panel before Divine Box was selected.
Dunn has signed the licence agreement and collected the keys. Work has begun on the unit, with the business aiming to open during the first week of October.
Danielle Dunn said: “I am absolutely thrilled to have been chosen as the winner of the Britannia Shop Star competition. Bringing Divine Box into a physical storefront is a dream come true, and I can't wait to open our doors to the local community.”
Workshops planned for the Hinckley shop
Plans for the store include bath-bomb making, painting and candle-making workshops alongside the retail range. Organisers said the proposal was chosen partly for its focus on creating an interactive shopping experience.
Phil Wheeler, centre manager at Britannia Shopping Centre, said: “Danielle really brought Divine Box to life during the final. We could immediately see how the colour, fragrance and personality of the products could translate into a fantastic physical store.”
Helen Crouch, Hinckley BID manager, said supporting independent businesses and creating more reasons to visit the town centre were important. Shop Star partners will continue working with Dunn while the unit is prepared.
An exact opening date has not yet been confirmed.
